As part of its Japan recovery work after the 2011 triple disaster, AmeriCares worked with The Association for Aid and Relief, Japan (AAR Japan) to supported the rebuilding of a workshop for people with disabilities in Shiroishi.
In collaboration with the Philippines Department of Health and local partners, AmeriCares is repairing 67 community health centers damaged by Typhoon Haiyan. This work will restore health services for an estimated 1.3 million people.

In the weeks since an outbreak of powerful tornadoes and severe weather devastated the Midwest and South, AmeriCares has provided more than $333,124 in aid which includes more than $318,024 in medicines, water and relief supplies to support partners in Arkansas, Florida and Kansas and $15,100 to restore access to health services in Arkansas and Mississippi. Today, mothers and children in Sri Lanka have access to quality health care at Trincomalee Hospital where AmeriCares has completed an 83,000-square-foot addition onto the hospital, adding 250 beds, operating rooms, a laboratory complex and a neonatal intensive care unit. The $2.8 million project expands the hospital’s capacity to treat patients in an area ravaged by the 2004 tsunami and the long-running civil conflict that ended in 2009.
