STAMFORD, CT – AmeriCares is pleased to announce C. Dean Maglaris, a pharmaceutical company senior executive from New Canaan, Conn., has been elected chairman of its Board of Directors.
Maglaris has served on the global health and disaster relief organization’s Board of Directors for six years, most recently holding the position of Lead Director. He is currently C.E.O. of Cytogel Pharma, LLC., a bio-pharmaceutical development company.
As chairman, Maglaris will lead the 15-member Board of Directors as it positions the organization to continue and accelerate its mission of saving lives and sustaining life when it is at its most precarious, at times of disaster, social unrest and whenever and wherever people need aid. Maglaris is only the second chairman in AmeriCares history, replacing founder Bob Macauley who passed away in December at the age of 87.
“Although no one will ever fill his shoes, I am honored to follow in the footsteps of Bob Macauley, a giant of a man,” Maglaris said. “AmeriCares conducts its work every day, at home and abroad, because of Bob’s vision, mission and undaunted determination to help people in need. As Bob said many times, ‘The needs of those desperate souls around the world are limitless and there should be no limit to the amount of good AmeriCares can deliver.’ I, with Leila Macauley at my side as Vice Chair of the Board, look forward to sustaining and enhancing the great work of this wonderful organization.”
