Stamford, Conn. – June 3, 2019 – Americares, in partnership with the Healthcare Distribution Alliance (HDA), has presented its annual Power of Partnership Award to Novartis and its Sandoz division, in recognition of their outstanding commitment to increasing access to health care around the world.
Americares Senior Vice President of Global Programs Dr. E. Anne Peterson presented the award today at HDA’s Business and Leadership Conference in Orlando, Fla. Americares and HDA created the Power of Partnership Award in 2005 to recognize HDA-member pharmaceutical manufacturing and distribution organizations that have shown exceptional dedication to expanding access to health care for disadvantaged populations.
“Novartis and Sandoz are among our most dedicated supporters, providing product donations that improve health and save lives for over 30 years,” Dr. Peterson said. “Their medications are consistently among the most critically needed—for both emergencies as well as the ongoing needs of communities devastated by poverty.”
Since 1986, Novartis and Sandoz have donated nearly $300 million worth of medicine to support health programs in 113 countries. In recent years, Americares has delivered Novartis and Sandoz products to survivors of several large-scale disasters in the United States, including Hurricanes Katrina, Maria and Michael. For Hurricane Maria alone, Americares delivered more than $4 million in Novartis and Sandoz products to partner health care facilities across Puerto Rico.
