Award Presented at HDA Business and Leadership Conference

Stamford, Conn. – June 6, 2022 – Americares, in partnership with the Healthcare Distribution Alliance (HDA), has presented its annual Power of Partnership Award to AmerisourceBergen, in recognition of its outstanding commitment to increasing access to health care around the world.

AmerisourceBergen is among Americares most dedicated donors, providing quality medical products and generous financial support that saves lives and improves health for people affected by poverty or disaster.

Americares Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer Jenny Goldstein presented the award today at HDA’s Business and Leadership Conference in Orlando, Fla. Americares and HDA created the Power of Partnership Award in 2005 to recognize HDA-member pharmaceutical manufacturing and distribution organizations that have shown exceptional dedication to expanding access to health care for people in need around the globe.

“AmerisourceBergen has been a dedicated Americares partner for more than two decades, allowing us to provide health and hope for families in the aftermath of disasters, quality care for the uninsured in the United States and life-changing health programs in underserved communities,” Goldstein said. “We are proud of the work we’ve been able to achieve together and look forward to partnering with AmerisourceBergen for years to come.”

AmerisourceBergen and the AmerisourceBergen Foundation, the independent, not-for-profit charitable giving organization, have been staunch Americares supporters since 1997, providing both product donations and financial contributions to support the relief and development organization’s ongoing health programs in the U.S. and its emergency response and recovery efforts worldwide. To date, Americares has delivered AmerisourceBergen products to partner health facilities in more than 70 countries. AmerisourceBergen employees also support Americares through giving campaigns and staff engagement activities.

Since 2018 AmerisourceBergen and the AmerisourceBergen Foundation have been part of Americares Emergency Response Partner Program, which provides annual funding that allows the organization to maintain a constant state of readiness to respond to natural disasters, disease outbreaks and complex humanitarian crises. In recent years, AmerisourceBergen has provided critical support for Americares response to the Ukraine crisis, the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 Haiti Earthquake, the Beirut port explosion and more.

At the same time, the AmerisourceBergen Foundation has played a significant role in the expansion of Americares behavioral health programming in the United States. The Foundation’s support has allowed Americares to train staff of safety net health centers across the country in mental health first aid as well as to recognize the signs of substance abuse in patients.

“Our longstanding partnership with Americares is a truly powerful example of how together we can expand access to quality health care, support the health of our communities around the world and create sustained change. We are proud and humbled to receive this recognition and we look forward to continuing to build on the progress we’ve made to create healthier futures for all,” said AmerisourceBergen Senior Vice President of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Susan Lorenz-Fisher.

“On behalf of HDA, we congratulate AmerisourceBergen for receiving this award in recognition of their continued support of Americares important mission,” said HDA President and CEO Chester “Chip” Davis, Jr. “The past year has provided countless health care challenges due to the pandemic and extreme weather-related disasters. In the face of these hardships, we have seen the power of collaborative initiatives to ensure every person can access health care resources. AmerisourceBergen’s dedication to helping those in need is a great example and extension of the health care distribution industry’s mission to support public health for all — during times of calm and in times of crisis.”
