Our friends and neighbors at WWE responded immediately to the January 12, 2010 earthquake in Haiti with a generous donation of $100,000 to support Americares emergency relief efforts. WWE also encouraged its fans and employees to support Americares comprehensive emergency response.
A Public Service Announcement campaign, “Americares Helps Haiti,” ran during its popular television programming, urging WWE fans to support Americares efforts in Haiti by making a donation via text message or on the Americares website.
Updates on Americares activities in Haiti were also posted on the WWE website along with information on how fans could donate to support the cause. When an 8.8-magnitude earthquake struck Chile just six weeks later, WWE stepped up again raising awareness about Americares relief efforts and encouraging fans to donate. Medicines, medical supplies and other humanitarian aid were immediately delivered to support health care providers in affected communities and establish a transitional field hospital in Angol.
Americares is proud and grateful to partner with WWE, its employees and fans in support of our emergency response in Haiti and Chile, and for other natural disasters around the world. WWE also supports our Global Programs to deliver essential medicines, strengthen local health care infrastructure, and restore health and hope to those without access to the medicines and health care they need. Their sponsorship of the Americares Airlift Benefit, our signature fundraising benefit, also provides critical support for our mission.
