MoneyGram has been an Americares partner since 2015, when the company responded swiftly and generously to the devastating earthquake in Nepal. MoneyGram and Americares share a mission to empower the world’s hardest-to-reach communities and help children and families around the globe.
After a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal on April 25, 2015, MoneyGram was quick to donate relief funds to Americares as we sent emergency medical teams, medicine and relief supplies to the hardest-hit regions. “MoneyGram recognizes that when disasters strike, preparedness is essential,” said Pamela H. Patsley, executive chairman, MoneyGram International. “We are committed to helping those affected by natural disasters and catastrophic events throughout the world.” Following this initial response, the partnership between MoneyGram and Americares has continued as we work toward our shared goal of fostering health and opportunity around the globe. The MoneyGram Foundation was established in 2012 to provide vital learning resources to children and offer immediate crisis aid in some of the world’s hardest-to-reach communities to foster economic prosperity, health, individual empowerment and freedom. Their efforts span the globe and have built schools in Nepal following a devastating earthquake, funded the expansion of a literary program in Haiti, sponsored the expansion of an e-reader program in Ghana, and supported mobile science labs in India.
