Our Work
in the U.S.

We provide our clinic partners with access to medicine, medical and other supplies to reduce patient and organizational costs and improve the delivery of quality care. We work with our partners to respond with emergency programs when natural disasters strike. We offer direct primary care through four of our own free clinics in Connecticut, and we complement our product donations with resources and targeted health initiatives that build capacity in local health organizations across the country, strengthening the delivery of health care in their communities.

U.S. Emergency Programs

When disaster strikes here at home, our emergency response team mobilizes immediately, reaching out to free clinics and health centers in our network of nearly 1000 safety net partners to deliver the right aid to survivors in urgent need. But we don’t stop there: we follow up with field visits and ongoing recovery assistance for communities in crisis. From Hurricane Ian, or the wildfires in Maui, to the latest extreme weather events, Americares has been on the scene, delivering crucial help, reducing human suffering, and helping communities recover.

Health Services

US Program

U.S. Health Services

In the U.S., chronic diseases account for more than 75 percent of health care costs and are the leading causes of morbidity and mortality among the low-income, uninsured population. We support an array of community health initiatives, helping our network partners serve the uninsured and underinsured with high quality, primary care for conditions such as diabetes, hypertension and mental health.

Americares Free Clinics

Our work in the United States is informed by our experience operating four Free Clinics in Connecticut for low-income uninsured patients where more than 325,000 residents live without health insurance. Americares Free Clinics are located in Danbury, Norwalk, Bridgeport and Stamford. The clinics bring together skilled volunteers and donated services to help more uninsured people get the quality care and medicines they need but cannot afford.

Our Commitment

Medicine Security

We offer free medicine, medical and other supplies to improve access to medicine, reduce patient and organizational costs and improve the delivery of quality care.  There are no fees associated with becoming a partner or placing orders. Americares covers the cost of shipping and there are no transaction fees.

How Do We Support Medicine Security?

Americares maintains a constant state of readiness, so we can deploy quickly when disaster strikes. Our relief workers are among the first to respond to emergencies, helping to restore health services for survivors. If your clinic or health center has been impacted by a disaster, please contact emergency@americares.org

Where and When Do We Respond?

Americares believes mental health is a fundamental element of health. Our programs are designed to improve psychological wellbeing and prevent illness by increasing access to health care. We provide quality behavioral and psychosocial support services that are part of dignified, respectful care.

Why is Mental Health Support so Critical?

We are working to help community health clinics serving low-income and uninsured patients prepare for the most frequent climate threats, buffer risks to patients and improve health. The Climate and Resilience Toolkit for providers, patients and administrators is available online.

Across its programs, Americares prioritizes the treatment and prevention of infectious diseases and management of hypertension and diabetes. That includes the Vaccinate with Confidence project, funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Supporting Health Equity and Improving Outcomes

            Strengthening Health Systems

The Roadmap to Health Equity initiative offers a national data repository to capture clinical quality measures and stratify them by race, ethnicity, and language to identify and address inequity. By facilitating internal and external benchmarking, Roadmap supports clinics as they break down barriers to equitable care and position internal systems and workflows to support the delivery of quality care.

Look at the Roadmap and Where it Leads.
“Americares partnership has helped the  clinic tremendously. Americares has allowed our providers to provide holistic, full circle  care. All the resources we’ve been able to  get from Americares – the programs and initiatives – are vital to our model. And they’ll continue to set a foundation for us to grow.”
